Giving
a Bride's Speech
Giving a bride's speech is a
great opportunity to publically express your
happiness and gratitude to all those who made your
wedding day possible.
Your speech doesn't have to be long but should acknowledge family and
friends for their love and support. Your sincere remarks will
go a long way
toward
getting your marriage off on the right foot.
Of
course, you'll probably want to thank your parents first. Let them
know
what it means to you to be their daughter. If you have a
particular memory
of your parents, share it with your guests. You might mention how their
relationship inspired you to find someone special.
Next
you'll want to address your new in-laws. Tell them how proud you are
to become a member of their
family and what a great job they did in raising
their son (your new husband.) If they helped in some way with
the wedding,
don't forget to thank them.
The
members of your wedding party should be mentioned next. Be
sure
to mention them by name. Try to insert a funny story
about something that
happened during the wedding planning.
You can also
acknowledge friends and family who have traveled a great
distance to be with you on your special
day. Mention them by name as well.
Last
but not least, turn and speak to your new husband. Offer your
personal
thoughts and feelings about
becoming his wife. Tell him that you love and him
and that you're looking forward to starting your life together.
Expressing
your thoughts and feelings can get emotional, but don't let the moment
become too maudlin.
Try to inject some humor where ever its appropriate.
You can
end your speech by offering a toast.
